With deep regret and profound sadness, we inform our Members, both local and global, that our illustrious Skålleague Bernard Alvin Sebastian passed away unexpectedly on the afternoon of November 1, 2026, at his home in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Executive Board and Members of Skål International Kuala Lumpur Club No. 179 are still in shock and deep sorrow upon hearing this devastating news.

Bernard was a stalwart of the Skål International Kuala Lumpur Club No. 179; a proactive member of the Executive Committee, serving as the Club’s Industry Engagement & Events Coordinator.  He was largely instrumental in locating and arranging the official hotel for the Asia Area Congress 2027 at the Park Royal Collection, part of the Park Royal Group of Hotels, where he played a pivotal role.

The Executive Board and Members of Skål International Kuala Lumpur Club No 179 are still reeling from the shock of this sudden catastrophic news; only five days ago, Bernard was at our recently held Diwali Celebration Dinner at the India Gate Restaurant (see the next SI Club News Article to follow), attended by over 50 members and guests revelling in the forthcoming Festival, and for which Bernard single-handedly negotiated and orchestrated all of the requisite Function arrangements.

We have lost a distinguished Skålleague, a gentleman with sterling qualities, a great industry leader and mentor, and, most notably, a wonderful friend; but his legacy and spirit of friendship and dedication to the Skål International fraternity and ethos will remain in our hearts forever.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family find strength and comfort during this difficult time.

Goodbye, dear friend and Skålleague.
