Skål International Kuala Lumpur
During the Holy Islamic month of Ramadhan, Skål International Kuala Lumpur, a Club nestled in the multi-racial and multi-religiously tolerant Nation of Malaysia, observes and unites with its Muslim Members and the rest of the Muslims inhabiting this country to observe the "Buka Puasa" or Breaking of the Fast with the whole Nation on Monday, 9 March 2026.
The RHR Kitchen, owned by Skålleague and Past Club President Puan Rohana Ramly, played host to more than 40 members and guests for a sumptuous buffet spread of traditional 'kampung style' cuisine, complete with a barbequed lamb-on-the-spit in the Al-Fresco area of the restaurant.
Amidst the camaraderie and fellowship amongst the Gathering, the call to prayer resonated, and the Muslims amongst the Group dutifully excused themselves and moved to an annexed room to perform their prayers. The Islamic duties and obligations of the Holy Month of Ramadhan, strictly observed amidst an atmosphere of mirth and conviviality, surely indicate that the fasting month is a sound reminder of the need for devotion and spirituality and should not be taken lightly.
In addition to the above notable Ramadhan observance, Skål International Kuala Lumpur pushes the boat out even further. In the spirit of Ramadan, the Malaysian Association of Hotels, Kuala Lumpur Chapter, embarks upon this charitable campaign annually. Posters, tent cards, and other promotional materials featuring QR payment codes are displayed at each participating hotel and their restaurants, promoting the “Buka Puasa” theme of raising financial donations for selected charity homes.
This year, the Home, “The Rumah Bakti Nur Syaheera”, a charitable Establishment provides shelter for boys and girls between the ages of 7 – 17 who hail from underprivileged backgrounds. This Establishment is in dire need of funding.
To this end, Skål International Kuala Lumpur connects with the Malaysian Association of Hotels to support this worthy Cause and will contribute a fiscal donation of RM1,000.00 (approx. Euros 222.00) towards the Establishment’s operational needs, in the name of our Hospitality Industry Commonality. VP Shirley Lai and Executive Committee Member Bernard Sebastian will be presenting the cheque to the Establishment.
The President, Executive Committee and Members of Skål International Kuala Lumpur wish all our local and overseas celebrating Skål Members "Eid Mubarak" on the occasion of the Festival marking the culmination of the Holy Month of Ramadhan. May there be Peace on Earth and Goodwill to all, irrespective of race, colour, and creed.
