Double Billing Day! Participation in Malaysia’s EARTH DAY. In Conjunction with World Skål International Day!

Nature is not a place to visit. It is home.

And what better way to mark World Skål International Day than by subscribing to the Sustainability policies of Skål International and participating in World Earth Day, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

“United in Friendship, We grow Together” is the theme of Andres Hayes, the 2026 Skål International World President, for his Presidential Year. To quote our World President, “One of our key objectives for 2026 is to strengthen strategic alliances with organisations that are part of our industry—or that play a critical role in supporting it.” And that Skål International Kuala Lumpur is advocating, engaging in, and proactively pursuing.

April 26th 2026, marked the National Sustainable Development Programme Event in conjunction with World Earth Day, fittingly just two days following World Skål International Day. The Event, supported by the District Action Group Environmental Sustainability (DAGES), Malaysian Nature Society, Global Environment Centre, Rotary Club and of course, Skål International Kuala Lumpur, brought members from all these Groups together at the Rotary Peace Park, Jalan Rantau Panjang, Batang Berjuntai in the Malaysian State of Selangor, to plant no less than fifty (50) tree seedlings which one day, will grow into full size trees, to let our Planet breathe.

Skål International Kuala Lumpur proactively acknowledged and honoured both the propitious events and was well represented by President Mahen, himself an avid supporter of a green environment incorporating both flora and fauna, Glory Marthandan and other Committee members who contributed their support in kind by each donating RM500 (Euros 108.00), being the cost for one tree planted at the venue location by our Club’s “botanists”.  The foundation of the Sustainability Event was to encourage everyone, and not just representatives of the participating Groups, to plant trees within our living vicinity, and our Club President, Mahendran Daniel, ably supported by ExCom member Glory Marthandan, braved the 36° C  heat from the Tropical sun, elbow deep in grass and soil, knuckled down to plant  Skål Kuala Lumpur’s contribution of four trees at the Venue.

We are all responsible for helping, healing, nurturing and sustaining Mother Nature. And the best time to start is NOW.

  • Together, We restore.

  • Together, We sustain.

  • Together We make a difference!

No better way to recognise and celebrate World Skål International Day than to participate by taking proactive steps to save our Planet. Don’t you think?
