Skål International Perth Celebrates Record Participation in the SKIWA 2026 Mentorship Program.
Skål International Perth is proud to announce a significant milestone for its SKIWA Mentorship Program, with 31 mentees now registered for the 2026 program, representing the largest cohort since the initiative was launched.
The SKIWA Mentorship Program was established to support the next generation of leaders within Western Australia’s travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. By connecting emerging professionals and students with experienced industry mentors, the program aims to foster professional development, strengthen industry networks, and support long-term career pathways.
The continued growth of the program reflects both the strong interest from future industry professionals and the commitment of Skål International Perth members who generously volunteer their time and expertise to mentor participants.
Michael Collins, President of Skål International Perth, said the milestone reflects the organisation’s commitment to supporting the long-term sustainability of the tourism and hospitality sector.
“One of the greatest responsibilities we have as industry leaders is to give back to the sector that has provided so many opportunities for us,” Collins said. “Through the SKIWA Mentorship Program we are investing in the future of our industry, supporting emerging professionals, and creating meaningful connections between education and industry. At the same time, initiatives like this bring tremendous value to our Skål members and strengthen the impact of our Perth chapter within the Western Australian tourism community.”
Participants in the 2026 cohort represent a diverse range of educational institutions and industry sectors, including universities, TAFE programs, and travel and hospitality businesses across Western Australia. Through structured mentoring sessions, networking opportunities, and industry engagement, the program provides mentees with practical insights and guidance from experienced professionals.
A key contributor to the program’s success is the continued support of Tourism Western Australia, whose sponsorship plays an important role in enabling the program to expand its reach and impact.
Through its support as part of the WAVES initiative, Tourism Western Australia is helping ensure the SKIWA Mentorship Program continues to provide meaningful opportunities for emerging tourism and hospitality professionals to build connections, gain career insights, and develop the skills required to contribute to Western Australia’s growing visitor economy.
Skål International Perth extends its sincere appreciation to Tourism Western Australia for its leadership and partnership in supporting workforce development within the tourism sector.
As the 2026 program progresses, Skål International Perth looks forward to seeing the positive impact that the mentorship relationships will have on participants, while continuing to strengthen connections among education providers, industry leaders, and future professionals.
The success of the SKIWA Mentorship Program reinforces Skål’s global ethos of “Doing Business Among Friends”, while ensuring the next generation of tourism professionals is supported, connected, and inspired.
