Skål International Chennai CSR initiative SKÅL Cares 2026
Curtains came down on our CSR initiative SKÅL Cares 2026, with a heartfelt valedictory function on 5th February at The Residency, GN Chetty Road.
The evening was dedicated to honouring our members who contributed generously toward SKÅL Cares 2026 and celebrating our past Presidents.
Since 2007, Skål International Chennai #205 has proudly hosted SKÅL Cares, envisioned by Past President Prakash Natarajan. While the initiative were paused in 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2025
Skål Cares had consistently supported schools, orphanages, old-age homes, and children's welfare.
In 2019 we collected ₹. 3,40,650 for NGO Shirdi Sai Karunai Illam, Anakaputhur.
In 2022 we collected ₹. 6,04,200 for Little Drops.
In 2024 we collected ₹. 2,94,000 in a different format supporting Valmiki Foundation Hyderabad and Forever Trust, Chennai.
This year, we embraced yet another new format by supporting People for Animals Trust, an organization dedicated to the welfare of dogs. Together, we raised a total of ₹. 3,36,000.
The contributions came through bidding of 50 complimentary vouchers offered by Skålleagues from the hotel and travel industry, which raised ₹. 2,67,000. ₹. 25,000 was contributed by the club. ₹. 44,000 through voluntary contributions from members.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the 20+ Skålleagues who made this possible, including Aruna, Anju, Babu, Devaki, Geetha, Gita Menon, Haneef, Kamleshwaran, Krishnakumar Menon, Nagendra Prasad, Nitin Prabhakaran, Karthik, Pawan Kumar Gupta, Rajesh Elumalai, Sankaran Sekar, Sunil Rajankar, Suresh Somani, Suseendran, Thomas Varghese, and Vivek Choudary.
The top five contributors namely Vivek Choudhary, Sankaran Sekar, Suseendran, Geetha B, and Suresh Somani—were honoured on the stage.
Contributions were remitted directly to the beneficiary's account, and a symbolic cheque was presented to Mr. Ramesh from PFA Tambaram, who in turn recognized our efforts with a commemorative plaque.
Special thanks to our board members for their combined efforts in making SKÅL Cares 2026 a resounding success.
A special appreciation also goes out to Past-President Gopinath, CEO of Residency Group of Hotels, and VP2 Venkatesh for graciously hosting this memorable valedictory event.
